Bacteria respond to changing conditions, both internal and external, by regulating the expression of genes. The most fundamental mechanism of gene regulation is based on the binding of transcription factors to class-specific sites on the DNA. Transcription factor binding sites (TFBS2) can be identified using a variety of biochemical and genetic techniques and several software tools have been developed that use the sequences of of these sites to identify candidates in other organisms. Unfortunately, selecting the best tools for a particular task is complicated by the fact that there is no straightforward way to compare results obtained with different methods. Pred_cutoff represents a quantitative statistical method for comparing the performance of different tools for predicting TFBSs. Pred_cutoff scripts: Build_model.pl
